WHO WE ARE
Texas Energy Trading is a pioneering student-run club at the University of Texas at Austin dedicated to cultivating a deep understanding and passion for energy trading. Our mission is to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world trading practices by providing a platform for learning, innovation, and professional development.
WHAT WE DO
TRADING & PYTHON CURRICULUM
We focus on a two semester long program for our undergraduates students, beginning with commodities such as, Natural Gas, LNG, Power, Crude, Refined products, to RECs. After that, we introduce students to real world scenarios through a live trading simulation, and industry mentors from all walks of trading life, ranging from origination, scheduling, trading, M&A, and more.
CORPORATE EVENTS
We organize a diverse range of events including info sessions, coffee chats, trading floor tours, networking mixers, technical workshops, and guest speaker panels. These initiatives are designed to connect students with professionals from across the energy trading industry, offering firsthand insights into market dynamics, trading strategies, and career pathways within the sector.
TRADING CASE COMPETITION
We host an annual commodity trading case competition that welcomes students from across the country to showcase their analytical, strategic thinking, and market intuition skills in a dynamic, real-world trading scenario. Participants work in teams to solve complex challenges reflective of the energy and commodities markets, presenting their solutions to a panel of experienced industry professionals. The competition not only allows students to demonstrate their talent and deepen their understanding of commodity trading, but also provides a valuable platform to network with leading professionals through a dedicated mixer and networking sessions while exploring potential career opportunities in the field.
